Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Ms. Black trained with principal dancer Kathy Gasper and spent several summers studying at the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Erika furthered her education at the Joffrey Ballet School and that same summer had the unique opportunity of performing in the Kirov Ballet’s production of La Bayadere at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Upon moving to NYC with her family, Erika graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and later earned her Bachelors in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program. She has performed works by Troy Powell, Paul Taylor, Alvin Ailey, George Faison, Pedro Ruiz, Adam Barruch, Chris Liddell and the master of jazz dance, Luigi.
Professionally Erika was a featured salsa dancer in a Carioca Coffee commercial, freelanced with David P. France’s Dance Company in Basel, Switzerland and toured internationally with the Lady Gaga Experience. She has taught children’s ballet and jazz in Brooklyn as well as Luigi’s technique at Luigi’s Jazz Dance Centre.
She is excited to join the Fancy feet family and share her knowledge of dance.
